A completely random brain-dump of stuff I want Skype to do for me.
Some of this stuff may already be there and just hidden. (Took me ages to discover user drag and drop in Skype.) Perhaps we need a “tip of the day”? If any of this confuses the user interface or Joe Skyper then better to leave it out, or make an explicit upgrade to a (paid-for?) “advanced” edition or mode.
And yours?

Aswath Rao (http://www.mocaedu.com/mt/) gets hit by my IP blacklist and e-mails me the following comment instead:
Given that the intelligence has moved to the edge (what with the API and all) many of these requests must already be available. I would have thought that like Firefox extensions, many should already be available .
Some of them that don't have to depend on Skype the company: notification of a group; buddy grouping; disappearing latent buddies (in addition to going below the fold, my preference would be to dimming font, like a pencilled item that fades away over a time); smarter presence; automatic top-up.
You mean to say "iPod" has these human factor problems: unending scroll box; not remembering all text chat sessions (why not audio as well? oh might be illegal?); automatic change of focused window.
I feel that the reason that SkypeIn and SkypeOut do not use the wideband codec is a direct consequence of using a proprietary codec. Otherwise the reseller partners will be willing to add this codec to their gateways. But then this problem will go away when (soon enough) Skype will rule the world (and peace will reign once again).
