Presumably this will be a big hit with the people that want the caller ID to pop up on the TV when the phone rings...

If it was such a great idea, DECT phones and TVs would have already "converged", or you'd just buy a gadget to plug into your TV and aerial socket that would integrate the two for you. I'm sure someone's already doing it, and there's a modest market -- but not enough to justify spending billions on network infrastructure for a service that can be implemented at the edge.
