Ye olde telco service: one line, one network, one application. Need two inbound identities to support a second application like fax? You need another copper pair.
Today's shiny new model: one line, one network, multiple applications. Amazing how our multi-tasking computers can run multiple networked apps down one DSL line, yes?
Tomorrow's goal: one line, multiple networks, multiple applications. Why do I get to choose just one ISP at a time? Why can't I subscribe to a movie download service that pays its own way in terms of connectivity? Why can't I subscribe to a service that gives me gigabit speeds, but just to others in my locality?
