It can be like that, but have you tried services from operators other than TDM voice? Like WiFi hotspots ;)
There is A LOT of money supporting TDM voice, hence the reliability. If the mass will be willing to keep paying for five 9s when offered free or services which are even two 9s, I reckon they will opt for the latter further pushing up the price for those who want five 9s.
Posted by: at June 3, 2007 11:21 PMJust as annoying is the "BT Broadband Talk" softphone that I've been trying to use recently instead of Skype, Jajah, Gizmo etc. It seems whenever I really want to make a call during the day, it just refuses to log-on to the service. On speaking to BT tech support they suggested that the problem was that I "didn't have an account". As I said to the man, "I've been making calls up until yesterday, so one of us is wrong, and it isn't me."
