“Social networks for corporate alumni”.

Why aren’t Oracle and Sprint trying to keep me engaged? After all, other institutions manage to keep in touch based on no nobler intent than a desire to part me from my money.

LinkedIn does this sort of thing. I just joined while doing some networking as part of a job search. I was astounded by the number of old colleagues from companies I used to work for that had already signed up. It's not mediated by the employers themselves, though.
